The base of the reliquary of St Alban's shrine, with its Purbeck marble carved and decorated with gems, has been meticulously restored - it was broken into over 2000 pieces throughout the Reformation. The carvings depict, found on the west side, the scene of

Alban's death, and, found on the south side, King Offa II of Mercia carrying a model of his Saxon church.

On the dissolution of the monastery its website and buildings were passed over to Sir Richard Lee, a martial manufacture. The season was 1539, and it wasn't prolonged prior to the extensive monastery buildings, that filled the region between Holywell Hill, the river Ver, Abbey Mill Lane and the Abbey Church, were destroyed, exiting merely the church itself and the Great Gateway.

Wherever modern-day tourists go in the metropolis of St Albans, they can not assist see the terrific Abbey Church upwards found on the hill.
